Hi, my name is Kevin Wong.
By day, a researcher.
By nights and weekends, a photographer.
Somewhere in between, a philanthropist.
Above all else, someone who cares.
Why is this website called The Victor?
Well, my middle name is Victor. Simple enough. Right? Well, there was also a time while researching web domains and discovering that www.kevinwong.com was taken sometime in the early 90′s – or at least it looks like it. After years of depression and seemingly clever names for previous websites, I landed on this particular name by chance. It rolled off the tongue well enough that it’s now my new home.
There are two ways that I think about The Victor now. First, it’s giving significance to my middle name, which has never been given any opportunity to stand out in my entire existence. Secondly, its meaning is relevant to what this place is intended to serve: stories of overcoming challenges. Today, these challenges include advancing my career as a researcher, owning a small business as a wedding photographer and leading a team of bright young professionals with our own philanthropy.
