Day To Day Unemployed

It has been about a week after leaving Banana Republic and I can already feel the withdrawls. Going down to University Village will never feel the same way again: just as a customer, rather than being a village employee. I was down there today to pick up my newly framed pictures I had taken a couple summers ago of Shanghai’s cityscape at night. They look more amazing professionally framed. For some reason, people working at the University Frame Shop are remarkably excited just as much as I was. Even though framing cost me an arm and a leg, and were a total bitch to carry walking up the 45th Street viaduct, I am very pleased with the results. Plus, they are more meaningful as pictures since I took them.

life of pi coverI also finished reading Naked by David Sedaris. My reaction to the book varies. It was humorous no doubt where I caught myself laughing out loud in public locations (Starbucks). I’m not entirely sure how well this book will come across to some people because the point of the book really is just the author’s perspective and experience with life in his own witty tone. Following Naked is Life of Pi by Yann Martel. My friend told me it was a pretty spiritual book, so that’s good considering the many books I read previously have been heavily scientific. Change is good right?

tangoesAfter visiting the folks in Bellevue, my dad found an old puzzle game we used to play years ago. It was great to see Tangoes again. It’s a game where you are given a set of flat, plastic shapes. The goal is to create a form provided on a card. Using all the pieces, the first person to finish creating the image wins. On the other side is the answer to how to create the image and to ensure the person did it correctly. Screw Sudoku, Tangoes is where its at.

Fourth of July was great as usual. Made it out to Gasworks Park for good ‘ol American fireworks. I actually ran into Erwin, a good friend of mine from work. It was nice seeing him. Sorry for eating all your jojos (potatoe wedges) and a chicken strip. I owe you a half pound bag of delicious jojos. It was also fortunate because he gave us a ride back to my house. Thanks again.

gmail notifier inbox countOn a final note, I would like to share with you a fantastic nerdtastic instance of my life today. Seeing as I rarely check my GMail account through Google, my GMail Notifier just increases higher in inbox count, and this so happened to strike my funny bone. Yes, I realize I am a huge nerd. Yes, I realize I will die alone. Thank you.
