F Shaped Patterned Reading

This is the sort of thing I love learn about in class. This is a brief introduction to an experiment conducted showing the eye movement patterns when a person visits a website. Different types of site structures were examined to find any relation or similarities. As it turns out, there is a strong pattern in the form of an “F” shape. Visitors will read the top portion and move laterally reading the sentences. Afterwards they shift there postition down a level much like reading a book. However, the distance in reading is cut shorter and they proceed to browse and gaze over the remainder of the website. Visuals and other more stimulating imaging such as pictures and video will attract eye movement as well.
After reading the article, I found myself doing the same the first time. I would read exactly as the pattern described. This is absolutely true in all cases and reveals a lot of how we interpret our world. We make assertions about the content and move forward subconsciously browsing for information that satisfy our interests.
