As frivilous as it may be, the Nokia 8800 is a limited edition Aston Martin mobile phone. It comes with a laser etched Aston Martin logo on the cover plate and equipped with a special ringtone composed by Japanese muso Ryuichi ‘Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence’ Sakamoto and another that’s a recording of the Vantage’s V8 engine revving up. Oh snap!
The specs are not all that impressive, but for the look, I guess it’s worth £940 ($1,640/€1,353).
The phone is a tri-band GSM/GPRS device with EDGE support. It has a 208 x 208, 262,144-colour display and a megapixel camera. The on-board music player supports MP3 and AAC songs, and the phone is based on Nokia’s Series 40 UI.
The Nokia 8800 weighs 134g and measures 10.7 x 4.5 x 1.7cm. It’s got a 600mAh battery, sufficient for up to three hours’ talk time and eight days on stand-by.
